Ocelot Chocolate Makers

Ocelot Chocolate is an artisan brand based in Edinburgh, Scotland. With a micro chocolate factory and an amazing little team, Ocelot use only what they believe to be the most ethical organic produce, with such a stance extending to all business practices in every way they can, whether its packaging or deliveries. Ocelot draw and design the majority of their packaging and artwork themselves, in which they take great pride in coming up with designs that have a meaning beyond the aesthetic.

Obsessed with good chocolate - to us it's in a food group all of it's own, and cannot (and should not) be compared to a regular chocolate bar. High-grade dark chocolate - like a fine wine or a specialty cheese - is up there with the most special things in the world and it is an experience to savour, with flavour notes that come in waves and linger long after you finish. Ocelot's tip for experiencing their chocolate to it's full is to firstly make sure your mouth (and body) is warm - chocolate is wasted in a cold mouth - and so, if it's frosty outside have a warm drink first, and make sure you're wrapped up and cosy. Then take a piece in your mouth and let it slowly melt on your tongue... Close your eyes and imagine the country it came from. Enjoy and picture each flavour as it comes - whether it be a damp hot jungle floor, a ripe blackberry, a tart cherry, or a whiff of pipe smoke on a windswept beach. When you open your eyes you'll feel like you're just back from an adventure!

The coffee industry is in crisis. Informed purchases are needed

Issue: Coffee prices are in crisis, which threatens the very existence of many coffee producers, and so, the future of coffee globally. For more: GUSTATORY on Sky News Radio (Interview)Our Answer: Informed purchasing decisions are advised, from the independent coffee roasters featured here on the GUSTATORY marketplace. Through direct-to-source relationships, roasters are able to protect their supply chains from the effects of price volatility as they form special relationships with producers. These relationships also protect producers as roasters often commit to fixed term and fixed price contracts, which give producers certainty. This certainty is what producers need in order to not only survive but thrive, committing to sustainable practices and addressing other global problems that are threatening the industry such as climate change.

Make their commitment your commitment. Support independent coffee roasters and you’ll be making a difference before you even have your first cup of coffee.
