About Kalita Wave Filter Papers (155/185) (50/100 Pack)
If you're brewing on a flat-bottom dripper, the Kalita Wave is probably your paper. Designed specifically for Kalita's flat-bottom brewers, these are one of the most trusted filter papers in specialty coffee – used in cafés and home setups the world over for a reason. They come in two sizes (155 and 185) and consistently produce clean, balanced cups with the kind of repeatability that makes dialling in a lot less painful.
The key is the 20-wave construction. Those crimped edges keep the paper off the dripper walls, creating small air pockets that help hold brewing temperature and keep water moving evenly through the coffee bed. Pair that with a flat-bottom design and you've got a setup that's genuinely forgiving – less channelling, more consistency, without giving up any clarity in the cup.
They're made in Japan from oxygen-bleached, FSC-certified pulp – flavour-neutral, responsibly sourced, and compostable after use.

Do I need to rinse Kalita Wave filters before brewing? It's optional, but worth doing. The paper is thin and doesn't add much papery taste anyway – the bigger wins are preheating your dripper and helping the filter sit properly in the brewer. Both make for a more consistent extraction.
What's the difference between the 155 and 185 sizes? The 155 is built for single brews of around 200–300ml. The 185 handles larger pours of 300–500ml. Go by how much you typically brew in one go rather than the number of cups you're planning to fill.
Can I use Kalita Wave filters in other drippers? Yes. The 185 fits the Orea V3 and V4, Origami Dripper (M size), April Brewer, Fellow Stagg [X], and most other flat-bottom brewers that take 185-size papers. The 155 works with the Torch Mountain Dripper, Origami Dripper (S size), and similar smaller flat-bottom brewers. Check your dripper's recommended paper size before ordering if you're not sure.
What's the difference between boxed (50) and bagged (100)? The filters are identical – it's purely about packaging and quantity. The boxed version comes in a rigid box of 50, which keeps everything flat and protected. The bagged version gives you 100 in a resealable bag, so better value if you brew regularly. Both sizes come in 155 and 185.
Can I buy Kalita Wave filters in bulk? Yes – we now sell wholesale cases of 32 units directly on the website, with free delivery and a 10% saving compared to buying individually. It's the easiest option if you're stocking a café or just don't want to reorder every few weeks.
Are Kalita Wave filters environmentally friendly? Yes. They're made from oxygen-bleached, FSC-certified pulp – meaning the paper comes from responsibly managed forests and is free from chlorine. Once you're done brewing, the filter and spent grounds can go straight into your compost bin together.
Are Kalita Wave filters compostable? Yes. They're plain paper, oxygen-bleached rather than chlorine-treated, so they can go straight into your compost bin along with the spent grounds after brewing.
