About Costa Rica Volcan Azul Geisha Coffee (#008)

About The Barn:After spending a number of years in Japan and the UK, Ralf Rueller founded The Barn back in 2010. He pioneered specialty coffee in an uncompromising way in Germany by focusing on the product, farm relationships, roasting and sharing knowledge that he leart along the way. Such factors helped The Barn establish their international reputation for quality and earned them the accolade for the best independent roaster in Europe and the Middle East. The pedigree that The Barn holds goes without saying, and equally, The Barn have a policy of never featuring in external multi-roaster subscriptions, until now - you're in for an absolute treat.

About This Coffee:The West Valley is Costa Ricas historical production region. Most of its coffees are grown under protective shade, and produced on fertile clay. The valleys landscape is structured by three volcanoes and a tectonic depression. This privileged land on the Pacific Coast has well-defined dry and wet seasons. Volcan Azul is located on the edges of the Poás Volcano.

For 5 generations, the producers have continued making coffee with the objective in mind of achieving excellence and superior quality. The descendants of the founders families are acquiring natural tropical forest in order to protect and preserve the environment, and to reduce air contamination and global warming. It is their way of contributing to a better future for the generations to come.

With this natural coffee, expect a rich creamy body with a hint of boozy ripeness, high acidity balanced out with high levels of sweetness.

Coffee Tasting Experience Booklets
Top 1% Of Speciality Coffees, Delivered 'Competition', 'Limited Edition', 'Micro-lots', 'Premium Variety', all are words used to describe the very best of speciality coffees, and through GUSTATORY Stories you are able to try the world's very best top 1% of speciality coffees. Whilst GUSTATORY's speciality coffee subscriptions consistently deliver the very top 5% of the world's best quality coffees, our limited edition Stories go one further and offers a coffee tasting experience with one-off special guest coffees. How It Works Given the nature of GUSTATORY Stories, each special guest coffee curation will vary in retail price depending on many coffee related factors, varying between £20-100 RRP. Due to this fluctuation between each coffee feature, every curation is made available by special announcement(s) throughout the month(s), each with a limited timeframe to purchase. No subscription, only limited one-off purchases. Limited Edition & Price Savings Each curated special guest coffee will be available in limited quantities with a limited cap on customer numbers. Similar to a GUSTATORY coffee subscription, each curation will also provide you with savings on the RRP as well as extra savings by way of us paying the high costs of international shipping and import duties that you'd otherwise pay if shopping direct (when the speciality roasters are international). Coffee Tasting Experience Booklets Complementing each, we also provide all accompanying media and information leaflets as supplied by the speciality roaster, if any, as well as a GUSTATORY Stories coffee tasting experience booklet that you may use many times over to make record of your brewing techniques, opinions on taste(s) and overall results. Experiment with your brewing and see if your coffee tasting experience changes over time. Rest Period We always recommend that coffees are 'rested' between their roast date and first consumption to allow the coffee to 'degas', making brewing easier and your cup tastier. Such a 'rest period' will take place during your coffee's journey from it's speciality roaster to you, and so, whether our curated special guest coffee roaster is located in London, Edinburgh, Budapest or Copenhagen, even New York or California, your delivered coffee will be ready to be enjoyed.

A home-brewed quality coffee is far less expensive than cafes

Issue: With the continuing economic uncertainty that COVID and the cost-of-living crisis brings, many are tightening the purse strings and choosing cheaper alternatives. However...For more: Comunicaffe International
...Whilst the purse strings may need to tighten, a better quality home-brewed coffee or tea is still far less expensive than buying individual drinks on the go. Over the last few years, many have taken the opportunity to improve their home brewing skills, and now with the equipment and know-how to recreate that authentic coffee shop experience from home, are enjoying cheaper quality coffees. With cafe coffees costing anything from £2.50-4.00 each, and with a bag of 250g quality coffee costing between £7.00-12.50 and providing you with enough to achieve up to 15-35 brews per bag (depending on brew method and strength preferences), the savings and better quality coffee are both there to be enjoyed.

If this isn't you, there really is no better time to start, and better yet, at GUSTATORY you’ll find plenty of affordable coffee subscription packages. It also won't be long until you discover a new favourite. All coffees are roasted fresh for us as part of our monthly subscription delivery schedules.
