Laggers Speciality Coffee Roasters

Laggers Coffee Roasters is the culmination of two childhood friends, David and James, with a shared passion for great coffee. With family ties to Colombia, one of the most bio-diverse countries on the planet, Laggers specialise entirely on sourcing, shipping and roasting Colombian coffee.

Why Colombia? Those fortunate enough to have visited this luscious landscape, need not ask this question. With well over half a million coffee producing farmers, Colombia is one of the highest exporters of green coffee beans in the world. Laggers have built personal relationships with hundreds of these producers and work with them and other exporters directly to buy at source at a rate that is mutually agreed upon, well above fair trade value. In addition, Colombia's unique climate offers year-round harvests, meaning Laggers are always able to source the freshest and highest scoring coffees. Having spent time with a number of different farmers who implement various social and ecological initiatives, Laggers also feel these were important practices to bring to the specialty coffee community. By attributing the producers story on each of their coffees, Laggers hope these insights become apparent with each and every cup.

The coffee industry is in crisis. Informed purchases are needed

Issue: Coffee prices are in crisis, which threatens the very existence of many coffee producers, and so, the future of coffee globally. For more: GUSTATORY on Sky News Radio (Interview)
Our Answer: Informed purchasing of coffee from the independent coffee roasters available through GUSTATORY's coffee subscriptions are encouraged. Through direct-to-source relationships, roasters are able to protect their supply chains from the effects of price volatility as they form special relationships with producers. These relationships also protect producers as roasters often commit to fixed term and fixed price contracts, which give producers certainty. This certainty is what producers need in order to not only survive but thrive, committing to sustainable practices and addressing other global problems that are threatening the industry such as climate change.

Make their commitment your commitment. Support independent coffee roasters and you’ll be making a difference before you even have your first cup of coffee.
