This region of El Salvador is known throughout the coffee industry for its high-quality production and for having numerous farms producing for Cup of Excellence; an annual international competition which judges coffees from around the world with the winner's coffee being sold at auction to the highest bidder. There are four volcanoes in this range of mountains so many of the farms here benefit from the rich volcanic soil.

At the farm, El Molino, they have chosen to plant highly productive and high yielding plant varieties; bourbon and pacas. These varieties have allowed the farm’s owners, Jose Antonio Jr and Antonio Salaverria, to have very precise control of their coffee processing which in turn has led to great consistency and delicious coffees.
