Located around an hour’s drive to the east of Guatemala City in the small town of Palencia, this farm sits at an altitude of 1600 metres above sea level. It’s owned by Guadalupe Alberto Reyes (Beto to friends), former Mayor of Palencia who helped to build and develop the town. This is very much a family affair: his wife and son also work on the farm, along with Beto’s siblings. In fact, his son is studying agronomy at the local college for the benefit of the farm. The farm mostly produces Bourbon and Caturra, but Beto is highly motivated to experiment with more unusual varietals like Pacamara and San Ramon. This is the third coffee Ozone have been able to offer from El Limon and it’s clear why: the consistency in quality speaks for itself. This one is a creamy, chocolatey cup with a delicate, pear-like acidity and a round, almond finish.
