Fertile soil, consistent temperatures and access to water provide Huila with the ideal conditions to produce coffee with outstanding characteristics, which make it very competitive overseas.
Huila coffee is very complex and balanced with citrusy, floral, caramel and fresh fruit notes with a medium-high body acidity. With no surprise, coffee is considered the most important agricultural activity in all the departments; it will remain the primary source of living for most of its inhabitants.
Currently, Huila is being supported by the Colombian government to increase coffee production, which it is expected to continue for the next year.
