Rwanda Ngororero Coffee

The Ngororero wash station is located in the Western Province in Rwanda, very close to the very renowned Matyazo wash station, it is worth keeping an eye on the high quality coffees they are producing. Ngororero has very high quality standards. Once the fruits have been bought from the producers, a strict classification process begins in Ngororero.

First, the staff at the washing station removes the lower quality cherries through flotation tanks. The remaining cherries are then inspected by specially trained staff for visual defects. After sorting and washing, the cherries go directly to the drying tables. They are spread in a very thin layer to prevent mold growth during drying and to ensure even drying. Cherries take around 3 weeks to dry on African beds.

A premium home-brewed coffee is still less expensive than a coffee shop

"With consumers working from home and unable to visit their favourite coffee shops as a result of the pandemic, they have been honing in on their barista skills to get their coffee fix at home. They are also buying coffee shop branded coffee to recreate that authentic coffee shop experience.""Despite the fact that many consumers are facing economic uncertainty, premium and branded coffees have an opportunity to market themselves as affordable luxuries. The purse strings may need to tighten but a premium home-brewed coffee is still less expensive than drinks from a coffee shop. Consumers are discovering it is safer and more cost-effective to have their own coffee at home and this trend is likely to continue even once the virus is under relative control...This shift opens up a real opportunity for coffee and the products that will support them in recreating that experience at home."For more: Comunicaffe International
