Stooker Speciality Coffee Roasters

It's not just about the beans, Stooker live for beautiful coffees. A green coffee bean has a whole range of flavours, for example, they can contain chocolate notes, have a sweet fruit flavour or be freshly sour. Stooker's goal is to let you taste those flavour characteristics, whereby all the qualities that a green coffee bean contains, only really come into its own in your cup if you let the bean develop properly during the roasting process. In addition, good extraction during the brewing process is of great importance for the preparation of a really good cup of coffee.

The origin of Stooker's name lies in the building on the Kastanjeplein where Stooker can be found. Around 1970, their corner building housed a liquor store, in which the similarity between the craft of distilling spirits and roasting coffee aroused their interest. Many of these traditional methods have disappeared from the streets in recent decades and they believe today’s generation will partially restore this image. Stooker Roasting Company is living proof of this.

The coffee industry is in crisis. Informed purchases are needed

Issue: Coffee prices are in crisis, which threatens the very existence of many coffee producers, and so, the future of coffee globally. For more: GUSTATORY on Sky News Radio (Interview)
Our Answer: Informed purchasing decisions are advised, from the independent coffee roasters featured here on the GUSTATORY marketplace. Through direct-to-source relationships, roasters are able to protect their supply chains from the effects of price volatility as they form special relationships with producers. These relationships also protect producers as roasters often commit to fixed term and fixed price contracts, which give producers certainty. This certainty is what producers need in order to not only survive but thrive, committing to sustainable practices and addressing other global problems that are threatening the industry such as climate change.

Make their commitment your commitment. Support independent coffee roasters and you’ll be making a difference before you even have your first cup of coffee.
