GUSTATORY Dor & Tan England

Dor & Tan Ceramic Tableware

The story of Dor & Tan begins with a desire to break away from the disposability of modern life, to create objects with a more personal connection. They want their items to become cherished memories, that favourite cup you always pick when boiling the kettle, the soup bowl you reach for after being caught in the rain. Dor & Tan want to bring handcrafted items to people, that have a unique soft character which cannot be created any other way than by the hand of a maker.

Made sustainably, Dor & Tan use green energy at the studio to fire their kilns and power electric wheels. Dor & Tan also make sure that all of their packaging can be easily recycled, and where possible are even made from recycled materials. Trying their hardest to source locally within Cornwall, Dor & Tan minimise their environmental impact but also help support local businesses. Lastly, it is essential to Dor & Tan to craft ceramics that can age with grace, striving to create objects using quality materials and techniques, but also with longevity in aesthetics.

The coffee industry is in crisis. Informed purchases are needed

Issue: Coffee prices are in crisis, which threatens the very existence of many coffee producers, and so, the future of coffee globally. For more: GUSTATORY on Sky News Radio (Interview)
Our Answer: Informed purchasing of coffee from the independent coffee roasters available through GUSTATORY's coffee subscriptions are encouraged. Through direct-to-source relationships, roasters are able to protect their supply chains from the effects of price volatility as they form special relationships with producers. These relationships also protect producers as roasters often commit to fixed term and fixed price contracts, which give producers certainty. This certainty is what producers need in order to not only survive but thrive, committing to sustainable practices and addressing other global problems that are threatening the industry such as climate change.

Make their commitment your commitment. Support independent coffee roasters and you’ll be making a difference before you even have your first cup of coffee.
